Ramón Búa Otero

Ramón Búa Otero ( born April 28, 1933 A Illa de Arousa, † 21 April, 2012 Vigo) was Roman Catholic bishop of Calahorra y La Calzada - Logroño.

Life

Ramón Otero Búa studied philosophy at the seminary in Tui (1951 /56) and Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome ( 1957/1961 ). He received on 19 March 1961, the ordination to the priesthood in Rome. At the Pontifical Biblical Institute, he graduated in 1964 in Biblical Studies.

He was from 1966 to 1982, among others, prefect of the seminary and professor of Sacred Scripture at the Major Seminary of Vigo. He was episcopal delegate for formation and catechesis and religious adviser to the radio station COPE Vigo. Since 1969 he was a professor of religious studies at the Instituto Nacional Femenino de Enseñanza Media in Vigo. From 1978 to 1982 he was pastor of the Collegiate Church of Santa María in the old town of Vigo.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 11 January 1982 Bishop of Tarazona. The Apostolic Nuncio to Spain, Antonio Innocenti, donated to him on 21 February of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Elías Álvarez Yanes, Archbishop of Saragossa, and Gabino Díaz Merchán, Archbishop of Oviedo.

On September 14, 1989, he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Calahorra y La Calzada - Logroño. In the Spanish Episcopal Conference, he was a member of the Episcopal Commission for Education and Catechesis (1982-1999) and the Commission of the Catholic bishops and religious superiors (1984-1993) and a member of the Episcopal Commission for Seminaries and Universities ( 1993-2005 ).

On 15 September 2003 John Paul II took his health to resign after a car accident.
