Ramón Piñeiro

Ramón Piñeiro Llagostera (born 29 October 1991 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish racing driver. He joined in 2010 and 2011 in the formula 2.

Career

Piñeiro began his motorsport career in 1996 in karting, where he was active until 2007. 2008, the Spaniards moved to Formula racing and competed in the European Formula BMW for Fortec Motorsport. With an eighth place as best result he finished at the end of the season 20th overall. 2009 Piñeiro denied his second season in the Formula BMW Europe. First, he started for FMS International and changed after the takeover by his team Coloni to Motaworld Racing. An eighth place was again his best finish. In the overall standings, he improved with regular points standings to 19th place.

After the end of the Formula BMW season Piñeiro moved to the Formula Palmer Audi and participated in the last six races of the season. In his first race weekend at Silverstone, the Spaniard had a serious accident. On the Hangar Straight he dueled with Casimir Vasiliauskas. Here, his left front tire touched the right rear of the rival and his car took off. Piñeiros car rolled over and lay there in the outlet zone. He survived the accident without injuries. At the last race of the season, he scored his first podium placing third. 2010 was the Spaniard in the Formula Palmer Audi. He won four races and was eleven times on the podium. In the championship he finished third. In addition, he took part in two races of the European F3 Open. On the last race weekend of the 2010 season Piñeiro made ​​his debut in Formula 2 He immediately secured a point, finishing in 22nd place in the drivers' standings. 2011 Piñeiro went in Formula 2 at the start. After he spent the first half of the season without a podium placement, he came in the second half of the season, only at a race in which he finished fourth, not on the podium. Piñeiro had scored three victories and finished the season on top of the third.
