Ranchi (Hindi: राँची, RACI ) is the capital of the Indian state of Jharkhand.
She lies on the Chota Nagpur Plateau, and has about one million inhabitants ( 2011 census ). In the city there are cement and heavy industry. The Supreme Court of the state is headquartered here, also, the city has a university. In addition to numerous temples and mosques can be found in Ranchi, the St. Mary's Cathedral, seat of the Archdiocese of Ranchi.
In Ranchi is the Birla Institute of Technology.
