Randy Crawford

Veronica " Randy " Crawford ( born February 18, 1952 in Macon, Georgia) is an American jazz and soul singer. It belongs next to Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and Dee Dee Bridgewater of the most successful of the genre.

Biography

Randy Crawford was discovered when she noticed in her church choir through her expressive voice. Even as a youth, her father took her on tour in the U.S. and Europe, where it caused a sensation even at their first live appearances in clubs. The breakthrough came with his band The Crusaders and the soundtrack to the film Sharky 's Machine, which also includes the highly successful song Street Life comes from. Highlights of her career were the joint appearance with Al Jarreau in 1981 at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the duet with Italian star Zucchero in the Moscow Kremlin in 1990.
