Randy & the Rainbows

Randy & The Rainbows was an American singing group, the particular 1963 was known for the hit " Denise ", the single reached number 10 on the U.S. charts.

The group was founded in 1961 in Maspeth, New York, as The Dialtones. The quintet sounded although quite good, but it lacked the right song to get a record deal.

They should get with " Denise " by the songwriter Neil Levenson. He wrote, inter alia, for the tokens and this group then produced the single, which was released under the band name Rainbows Randy & The.

The song was a second time an international success. Debbie Harry took with her group Blondie 1978, a cover version on (in the " male " version as Denis ) and had thus in the UK charts a number -two hit.

Randy & The Rainbows go no further successes. The consequence Single Why Do Kids Grow Up only reached number 97 in the U.S. charts. Part of the group, however, still occurs today at Oldie events.
