Ranuccio Farnese (cardinal)

Ranuccio Farnese ( born August 11, 1530 in Valentano, † October 29, 1565 in Parma) was a Roman Catholic Cardinal of the Farnese family. He was the grandson of the originating also from the Farnese Pope Paul III family. and the brother of Alessandro Farnese, who was cardinal and also the Great Cardinal was called; on the other hand called Ranuccio cardenalino so small cardinal because he had been appointed by his grandfather age of 15 cardinal. Even as a ten year old, he was a lifetime Prior of Venice of the Sovereign Order of Malta. As such, he was portrayed by Titian.

During his time as a Cardinal Deacon of Santa Lucia in Silice he was known as a great patron of the arts and was highly regarded by his righteousness. His and his brother Alessandro worked foundations enabled the construction of the Oratory Most Holy Crucifix. Charles Borromeo praised him his wisdom and charity. His grave is located in the Lateran Basilica in Rome.
