Raoul André

Raoul André, pseudonym of Jean Le Vitte, ( born May 24, 1916 in Rabat, Morocco; † November 3 or November 4, 1992 in Paris or La Garenne- Colombes, France) was a French artist, cameraman, film director and screenwriter.

Life

André, son of a colonial official in the Protectorate of Morocco, grew up in Rabat. He turned to the film after his failed attempts to study law and literature. He works as a makeup artist, cameraman and assistant director until 1947 he produced his first feature film as a director for the film Le village de la colère. He then became a specialist for cheap and shallow action movies and comedies crooks, including some films starring Eddie Constantine.

He was married in 1955 to actress Louise Carletti ( 1922-2002 ), his daughter is the actress Ariane Carletti (* 1957).
