Rapture (Band)
Rapture is a Finnish dark metal band that was founded in 1997. The songs the band have an oppressive, almost depressive mood. Similar bands include former Katatonia or Daylight Dies.
Band History
Rapture founded in 1997 in Helsinki. After the demo Broken Daydream (1998) followed in 1999, the debut album Futile on Spikefarm Records Relapse Records in Europe and in the United States. In 2002 appeared Songs for the Withering, which was produced by Tuomo Valtonen ( Ruoska ). 2005, followed to date last album Silent Stage. Since that time the band will still operate, but with no contractual obligations to a label.
Music style
Rapture play a mixture of melodic death metal, doom metal and gothic metal with gloomy growls, which is often referred to as Dark Metal. The music has been compared in reviews with Katatonia and Opeth. The lyrics deal primarily the subject of dying and suicide that have arisen in the context of Finnish polar night.
