Rarities 1971–2003

Occupation

Rarities 1971-2003 is a compilation album by the British band The Rolling Stones, which was released on 25 November 2005.

Background

The album was issued by the company Starbucks in America, global distribution took over Virgin Records.

The album contains twelve original compositions by the band and four cover versions from the years 1971-2003, which a certain scarcity value was assumed - from the name " Rarities " is derived (rarities ) from. Most of the songs are B-sides of singles and maxi versions; often it involves live recordings. The songs Mannish Boy and If I Was a Dancer (Dance, Pt. 2) were already on another compilation album, which published in 1981 Sucking in the Seventies, available. The song Live with Me comes not as stated in the booklet, from the live album No Security, but from the published 1996 maxi-single Wild Horses. Said Wild Horses is also on Rarities and was first released on the 1995 album Stripped. Only five songs were not published until then on the band's albums.

On the album cover, the band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Charlie Watts are seen during a musical performance. The image used for this comes from the music video for the Rolling Stones song Respectable of 1978; Bassist Bill Wyman, who left the band in 1993, it has been retouched from the original photo. He told the British newspaper Telegraph, the process was " disappointing and petty" ( disappointing and shabby ') and added, " but I do not know Whose decision did what. I do not bring up Those Things " ( but I do not know whose decision it was. I do not speak on something. ').
