Rashid Behbudov

Rashid Behbudov ( Azerbaijani: رشید بهبوداوف, Rəşid Məcid Behbudov oglu, born December 14, 1915 in Tbilisi, † June 9, 1989 ) was an Azerbaijani singer and actor. He sang, among others, to Azerbaijani, Russian, Persian, Turkish, Hindi, Urdu and Bengali.

Rashid Behbudov was born in 1915 in Tbilisi, Georgia, then part of the Russian Empire. His father, Majid Behbudov, was also a singer. Between 1938 and 1944 worked Rashid for the State Philharmonic Orchestra in Yerevan and the local opera. In 1945 moved Behbudov at the invitation of Tofig Guliyev to Baku, where he starred Asgar in the film " Arshin time Alan " received the same year, which was conducted under Üzeyir Hacıbəyov. His role in this film made ​​him and his vocal skills known throughout Azerbaijan and brought him fame.

In no time Behbudov was a celebrated Azerbaijani pop singers of his time. His musical works ranged from classical performances to lyrical songs. Behbudovs vocal talent enabled him, as a musician on the "Iron Curtain" of the Soviet Union to go out, which he did. Traveled through several European, Asian and Latin American countries (including Iran, Turkey, China, India, Japan and Argentina)

In 1966 he founded the National Theater songs, which is now named after him, where he worked as a soloist and artistic manager.
