Rasmus Klump

The comic series Barnaby Bear was invented in 1951 by Carla and Vilhelm Hansen and carries the Danish original title Rasmus Klump. The series was initially released worldwide in many newspapers, was expelled from Germany in 1953 and in the form of colored picture books by Carlsen Verlag was founded for the publication of this series.

Content

Action

The stories are about the bear Barnaby Bear and his friends, the Pelikan Pelle, in its beak one finds everything except water, the penguin Pingo and the Seal Fur Seal, who tour the world with their self-built ship "Mary", while all sorts of fun adventures and other Animals meet. Flag

Notes: The Norwegian version of the 6 band called " Bamse på Bjørn skilpaddeøya ", the 8th is called " Bamse Bjørn som fjellklatrer ". Both are thus written in Bokmål. Compare the names skilpadder and fjellklatrer in Bokmål or Nynorsk in skjelpadder and fjellklatrar. From Strudsen Rasmus Rasmus Klump to

1951 Vilhelm Hansen was asked to develop a three-frame strip series, which should replace Jørgen Clevins " Strudsen Rasmus " ( Rasmus, the ostrich ). Vilhelm only wanted to make a turtle for the protagonist, but his publisher preferred a teddy bear. Interestingly this is that soon a tortoise constant companion Petzis should be ( See section "figures" ). Klump was the name of the neighbor dog.

The comic first appeared in the form of three-frame strips in daily newspapers. The first story appeared on 17 November 1951 in the Danish newspaper Berlingske Aftenavis while a first version in German Hamburger Evening Gazette on 20th September 1952, published.

From the comic strip to the Barnaby Bear - volumes

As more and more Barnaby Bear fans asked for bound volumes, specially the German Carlsen Verlag was founded, which published in 1953, many of the stories as a colored picture books, initially in landscape mode and from the seventh volume in portrait mode. However some pictures and story elements of the original in the meantime about 3000 strips, usually with three images each have been omitted. From the fifth band, the order of the volumes is true in general no longer matches the original strips. The comics contain up to some newer revisions no bubbles, but subtitles.

From September 1977 to November 1977 published the Hamburg publishing house Gruner and year the comic magazine " Barnaby Bear and all his friends ." Overall, published four editions (20-23/1977) with old stories. The magazine was - similar to Yps - accompanied by a gimmick.

Mid-1960s, Vilhelm Hansen began to withdraw. First he walked the longer actions in the form of sequels in short episodes in order to eventually quit entirely as a draftsman. In collaboration with his wife worked as a writer continued to appear hundreds of Barnaby Bear strips, but now - as towards the end even with Hansen himself - with speech bubbles instead of subtitles.

Development since 1978

From July 1978 to May 1979, some of these strips as a 32- page comic insert in the so-called Piccolo format of the children's magazine Sesame Street, which was created from February 1973 to May 1979 at Gruner and year by the editors of Parents published by Hansen's retreat. With one exception, these stories never appeared again on German; there is no information on the artist, just a story ( Barnaby Bear and the Christmas tree appeared later in the series Pixi books) was signed by Vilhelm Hansen. 1979 hiked the rights to the Sesame Street to the Condor Verlag ( Frankfurt am Main). The old Sesame Street editors brought from June 1979 published the magazine saffron, also included a 32-page booklet Barnaby Bear at Piccolo format with new stories to the. Saffron was terminated in February 1980. A total of 20 stories appeared.

By 2008, a total of 40 volumes of the comics published. In addition, since 1966 Barnaby Bear adventures that were published in small format in the series " Pixi books".

From new authors and new artist come eight volumes. 2006 Story elements of the original strips the Hansens were redrawn and retold again placed in eight volumes.

Since 2010, the landscape spending from the 1950s appear in the Esslinger Verlag in less abridged original version. However, missing, showing a comparison with the in the 90s appeared mainly in Belgium comic strips, still single drawings.

Year books

In 1972, an elaborately drawn Barnaby Bear calendar with 13 of Hansen first time, even full-page colored pictures on every month of the year ( "With Barnaby Bear through the year "). Animated series

1996 Barnaby Bear was seen as an animated series in some editions of the children's show " The Show with the Mouse" and later with KI.KA to. The uncut versions of the stories with a length of about six minutes were released on VHS and from 2004 from 1997 on DVD.
