Ratko Perić

Ratko Peric ( born February 2, 1944 in Tuk, today the municipality Rovisce, Bjelovar -Bilogora, Croatia) is a bishop of the Diocese of Mostar Ratko Peric and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Trebinje - Mrkan.

Life

Ratko Peric was ordained in Prisoj on 29 June 1969 priests. His doctorate in theology became Peric in 1971 at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. After he was a professor at the Gregorian University, he was chosen on 29 May 1992 coadjutor bishop. Ratko Peric was consecrated by Cardinal Franjo Kuharić on 14 September 1992 on the bishop. As a diocesan bishop, he joined on 23 July 1993 the successor of Bishop Pavao Žanić in the diocese of Mostar Ratko Peric. In addition, Ratko Peric was appointed on 23 July 1993 as Apostolic Administrator of Trebinje - Mrkan.

He is like his predecessor, a sharp critic of the alleged Marian apparitions to Medjugorje and denied its recognition as a shrine or place of pilgrimage. On April 2, 1995 he was arrested in Mostar for ten hours as a hostage until he could be freed through the intervention of the mayor of Mostar and the protection of the United Nations force. Already in the previous month he had been the victim of a robbery at his residence in Mostar.
