Ratlam State

Ratlam was one of the princely states of Central India Agency of British India in what is now the state of Madhya Pradesh. Its capital was the site of Ratlam. Ratan Singh, a prince of the house of Rathore Rajput state of Marwar ( Jodhpur ), fought in the service of the Great Mogul Shah Jahan in 1652, and was invested by him with Ratlam. Maharaja Keshav Das ( 1684-95 ) lost after a dispute with a Mughal officer Ratlam. After he had forgiven the Mughal emperor, he got Sitamau fief. Maharaja Chhatrasal ( 1705-06 ) was again awarded Ratlam, but which in the course of Marathenkriege came under the suzerainty of the Scindia of Gwalior.

Ratlam was 1819-1947 British protectorate in 1901 and had an area of 1795 km ² and 84,000 inhabitants.
