Rats & Star

Rats & Star (Japaneseラッツ&スター, Rattsu ando Suta ), formerly known as Chanel, is a Japanese J-pop boy band that specializes in doo-wop - influenced music. Heading the group of Masayuki Suzuki.

The group's name is a palindrome, which extends from the front reads the same as from behind. The real meaning of the name is that " rats " who had grown up in the poorer neighborhoods of the city will be affected by the singing of Doo Wop their skills and could be a collective "Star".

History

1975 did Masayuki Suzuki, the Doo Wop like Masashi Tashiro and Nobuyoshi Kuwano together to form a band called Chanels. The band debuted in 1980 with their first single called Runaway, which sold over a million copies and became a huge hit. 1983 the band changed their name into today's Rats & Star, as the French fashion giant Chanel filed complaints. Andy Warhol created the cover art for the album Soul Vacation and the name change seemed no recoiling in customer buying patterns cause; the first single under the name of Rats & Star, Me - Gumi no Hito, sold over 800,000 copies. 1985 married five members of the band simultaneously, which gave the group much publicity. The following year, 1986, published Rats & Star a duet called Lonely Chaplain with Masayukis older sister Kiyomi Suzuki, which was a huge hit as well. Nevertheless, the band leader Masayuki Suzuki hit a solo career and the band ended its greatest extent. 1996 Rats & Star for half a year was reestablished and the band released the single Yume de Aetara that was popular enough to encourage the group to a farewell tour throughout Japan. The same year she appeared the first time in the Kohaku Uta Gassen to present this song.

In 2006, Suzuki, Kuwano and Sato formed the group Gosperats with Tetsuya Murakami and Yuji Sakai, members of the Gospellers.

Unique Andy Warhol prints of the album cover " Soul Vacation " were sold for U.S. $ 25,000 from each.
