Ratskeller

Ratskellar (also Council hermitage ) is in German-speaking frequently occurring name of restaurants that are located in a town hall or in close proximity thereto. Council Keller include mostly to local tradition and restaurants offer home-style cuisine. Often the economic areas owned by the city or town, which leased it to a landlord. Very well known are the Ratskeller or Ratskeller to Lübeck.

In various cities of the United States took place in the German immigration, the name has also obtained. The American Council cellar are often in the Midwest as well as in New England, as the punk -great- club The Rathskeller in Boston.
