Rättvik Municipality
Rättvik is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Dalarna County and Dalarna. The main town of the municipality is Rättvik.
Geography
The community Rättvik extends inland from Lake Siljan Dalarna from about 80 kilometers ( direct distance) north.
20 kilometers north of Rättvik is the waterfall Styggforsen, which is 35 meters high. He was one of the scenes in Ingmar Bergman's film Jungfrukällan (Eng. The Virgin Spring ). In Furudal 40 km north of Rättvik are two open-air museums, Norrboda Gammelstad, two completely preserved farms with a total of 30 buildings from the 17th century, and Ärteråsens fäbodar, Swedish Mountain huts from the 18th century.
Approximately 8 km north of Rättvik along the lake Silia one finds the so-called " Dalhalla ", a disused limestone quarry, which is used in summer as outdoor stage. Concerts (such as "Rhapsody in Rock" ) in Sweden are a crowd puller and already sold out months in advance.
Economy
The municipality is located in a traditional agricultural and forestry area. In the industrial sector dominates the wood processing industry, whose largest holding is located in Furudal. Tourism is today - for the entire region - important industry.
