Rauk

Raukar ( Swedish, singular of Rauk, sometimes the rocket and plural rauks translated) are up about 10 meters high limestone columns that can be found on Gotland, but also on Fårö, Lilla Karlsö and on the neighboring island of Öland ( Byrums raukar at Byrum ) are. They were formed after the last glacial erosion and leaching of different hard limestone and marl rocks in coastal areas. Because of the post-glacial and up to the present ongoing uplift of the islands lie some Raukar (eg Lickershamn ) even away from the coast today.

On the beach of Lickershamn is highest Gotland Rauk, the 23 meter high " Maiden ". At the entrance to the beach some Raukar can be seen in the forest next to the road.
