Rav Ashi

Rav (Rab ) Ashi ( honorific Rabbana Aschi; * to 352, † 427 ) is one of the most important Amoraim, and here the sixth generation in Babylonia.

He came from a very wealthy family home and was one of the four main editors of the Babylonian Talmud. He should have for 52 years headed the House of Study in Sura and twice gone through in the Kalla - months throughout the Talmud, a large part.

Considered together with Ravina as final redactor of the Babylonian Talmud. He was a student Kahanas and Amemars, which he often quoted.
