Rav Assi

Rab Assi (also Issi or Asa ) was a Jewish scholar of the ancient world, is counted among the Babylonian Amoraim the first generation and lived and worked in the third century AD.

He was a contemporary and friend of Rab and Samuel, and was highly valued by both.

The Talmud tells of a violent confrontation with Assis Shelah ben Awuna a ritual decision which ended with the death of both consecutive soon.
