Rav Yosef b. Hiyya
Josef Rab (Rab Joseph bar Hiyya, † 333) was an important amora of the third generation.
Biography
He was a pupil of Rab Huna and Rab Judah, because of his extensive knowledge of traditional law, he was honored by the name of Sinai.
After Rabbahs death, he is said to have led the school in Pumbedita. He also editing a Aramaic (partial) translation of the Bible is attributed; he is also known as the Merkabah mystics.
