Ray Lazdins

Ray Lazdins (actually Raymond Lazdins; born September 25, 1964 in Hamilton) is a former Canadian discus thrower.

In 1986, he won at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. The following year he finished sixth at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis. At the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome and at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, he was eliminated in the qualifying.

In 1989 he won silver at the Games of La Francophonie in Rabat, 1990, he was sixth at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland. In the World Cup 1991 in Tokyo, the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona and the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, he does not make it past the first round. In 1994 he finished seventh at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria.

From 1986 to 1994 he was nine times Canadian champion in a row. His best jump of 65.72 meters he set up in Salinas on 22 May 1991.
