Ray Lindwall

Raymond Russell Lindwall MBE ( born October 3, 1921 in Mascot, New South Wales, Australia, † June 23, 1996 in Brisbane, Australia) was an Australian cricket and rugby league player. He is considered one of the best fast bowlers in the history of cricket. In 1949 he was elected one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year.

Career

Ray Lindwall played 61 Test matches for Australia, where he scored a total of 1502 runs (21.15 runs per wicket ) and 228 wickets. His Test debut, he celebrated in March 1946 against New Zealand in Wellington. In test matches succeeded Ray Lindwall total of two times to achieve a Century ( at least 100 runs ). His first Century, he scored on New Year's Day 1947 against England in Melbourne, the second century on May 14, 1955, the team of West Indies in Bridgetown, Barbados. Lindwall was next to Donald Bradman, the key players of the Australian team that played in England 1948 The Ashes and as The Invincibles went down in history. In this test series against England, he took a total of 27 wickets, leaving only 19.62 runs per wicket to. His final Test deployment for Australia he had in January 1960 against India in Calcutta.

Others

Ray Lindwall was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 1996. In 2010, he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. From the Australian Cricket Board, he was elected to the Team of the Century.
