Ray Stricklyn

Lewis Raymond Stricklyn ( born October 8, 1928 in Houston, Texas; † 14 May 2002, Los Angeles, California ) was an American actor.

Life

Lewis Raymond Stricklyn already played during his time in kindergarten at the theater and pursued his desire to become an actor during his school days. 1950 moved to New York City, where he made his debut on Broadway two years later. Another three years later, he moved to Los Angeles where he began his film career. In 1956, he starred in several television series and six feature films, including The last car, girl without a dowry and Youth Unleashed, with. For his role in A man in his best years, he was nominated in 1959 as Best Young Actor for the first time for a Golden Globe Award. Another nomination followed in 1961 for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The looters.

His film career came in the late 1960s to a standstill, so that henceforth he took over the public work of actors like Bette Davis and Elizabeth Taylor in the West Coast office of John Springer associates from 1973. With an appearance on the television series The Rockford Files - Just call he started in the late 1970s, his acting career. He came increasingly into television series and played back on the stage. He was in a 1998 episode of the sitcom The Nanny His last appearance. A year earlier, emphysema was diagnosed and he began to write his autobiography with him. With his his 1999 autobiography, Angels & Demons: One Actor's Hollywood Journey, he also had his coming out.

On 14 May 2002 Stricklyn died as a result of his emphysema. He was survived by his sister and his longtime partner, the theater director David Galligan, with whom he had lived since 1965.
