Prime Minister Paul Mba Biyoghe resigned on 13 February 2012. President Ali Bongo appointed him on 27 February 2012 to the Prime Minister. His appointment was as remarkable as the Office of the Prime Minister has traditionally been occupied by an ethnic Fang from the province Estuary, as he comes from the province Woleu - Ntem, although he is also a catch. Prior to his appointment, he was not regarded as a particularly important figure on the political stage. On January 24, 2014, President Bongo appointed the former Vice- President of the National Assembly Daniel Ona Ondo as the new head of government.
