Raymond Savignac

Raymond Savignac Pierre Guillaume ( born November 6, 1907 in Paris, France, † October 31, 2002 in Trouville- sur -Mer, Calvados ) was a French artist and graphic designer who specializes in commercial art, internationally known for his poster art.

Life

Raymond Savignac, often just abbreviated to " Savignac " began to work as a self-taught graphic designer under the guidance of AM Cassandre from 1935. Basic skills were taught to him at the École Lavoisier in Paris.

His work was characterized above all by a humorous simplicity. One of his biggest successes was a poster, which he designed for a " Milk Soap " by Monsavon soaps on which a cow was displayed directly produced the soap with her milk at the udder. Another famous poster was " La Guerre des boutons " ( " War of the Buttons ").

He had international orders for his poster designs and participated in numerous exhibitions worldwide. 1955 and 1957 were on poster exhibitions in Chicago, United States awarded him the first prize. In 1964, some work was conducted by him (even the " Monsavon Poster" ) shown at the documenta in Kassel III in the Department of graphics. A permanent exhibition of his work can be seen in Montebello Museum in Trouville, where he spent his last years.
