Realunion

Real Union is in contrast to the personal union of a constitutionally -arranged combination of independent states, not only by personal union, but also by common institutions.

Examples are:

  • Since 1460 real union between Schleswig and Holstein ("up forever ungedeelt " )
  • 1509-1814 Real Union Denmark-Norway
  • 1569 Union of Lublin: called conversion of the personal union between Poland and Lithuania on the I. Rzeczpospolita, and Poland-Lithuania (up to 1791)
  • Since 1707 Real Union between England and Scotland (as opposed to personal union 1603-1707 )
  • 1800-1918 Real Union between Denmark and Iceland
  • 1802-1810 Real Union of the Principalities Salm- Salm and Salm- Salm Kyrburg the Principality
  • 1809 Real Union ( by first German Constitution) the principalities of Sachsen -Weimar and Saxe- Eisenach Sachsen -Weimar -Eisenach
  • 1815-1905 Real Union between Sweden and Norway
  • 1867-1918 Real Union Austria - Hungary (as a result of the Austro-Hungarian compensation )
  • 1958-1961 United Arab Republic between Egypt and Syria
  • 1826-1920 Saxe-Coburg -Gotha as a real union of Saxe- Coburg and Saxe-Gotha
