Rebild National Park

Rebild is a protected natural park in the municipality Rebild, North Jutland in Denmark.

History

The founder of the park was a doctor Max Henius, a Danish Americans, who moved to Chicago, USA in 1881. In 1911 an area of ​​approximately 77 hectares ( 140 Tønder country ) was purchased. 1912, the land was handed over to the Danish State to serve for Danish emigrants as a memorial. Although Rebild bakken called National Park, it is not a state national park under Danish law, the first Rebild Festival was held with the presence of the Danish King Christian X in 1912. Since then this festival is celebrated every year on July 4th. During the first and the Second World War, the festival was suspended. It is organized by the " Rebild National Park Society Inc."
