Red Owl

The Malegasseneule or Small Madagascar Barn Owl (Tyto soumagnei ) is a species from the genus of barn owls (Tyto ). She lives endemic to Madagascar, where their distribution is probably limited to the northeastern part of the island. Sightings of the species are rare, they should live mainly in forest clearings, where it occurs apparently sympatric with the Madagascar Barn Owl ( Tyto alba hypermetra ), a subspecies of Barn Owl. Since its first description in 1878 by Gran Didier to the year 1993 no specimens of this species were discovered. So far, only one nest is known.
