WINITI (Russian ВИНИТИ, Всероссийский институт научной и технической информации, Wserossiiski Institute Nautschnoi i Technitscheskoi Informazii ), the acronym stands for All-Russian Institute for Scientific and Technical Information, the Moscow-based Information Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation. The central and leading in Russia and the other CIS institution, and its website, serves primarily the Russian-speaking public, the information examined from the scientific and technical fields such as mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, chemistry and economics. For the non- Russian-speaking information seekers are English-language information on the website.

History

1952, the Institute was established for scientific information from the Soviet Academy of Sciences and in 1955 as WINITI, Allunionsinstitut ( " Wsesojusny Institute " ) for Scientific and Technical Information reorganized. As a documentation center of science and research in the former USSR WINITI had as an effective element of the supply of information share of the Sputnik shock in the U.S. in 1957. VEB central information processing Chemie Berlin ( ZIC ) recognized since the 1970s, together with WINITI data for the SPRESI database for chemical structures, reactions, facts and bibliographic references.

1998 WINITI by the Russian parliament, the Duma, the organizer of the state system of scientific and technical information ( GSNTI, Russian Gossudarstwennaja sistema Nauchno - technitscheskoi informazii ) was appointed.

Availability

Today, the database is offered by the company InfoChem GmbH ( Springer Science and Business Media ) as a web application SPRESIweb online. WINITI worked together since 2001 with the FIZ Chemie, the data from WINITI incorporated into the database DETHERM, the world's largest factual database of thermophysical and thermodynamic data.

The Technical Information Library ( TIB) Hannover moved from 1970 to 1985 and again since 1992 called Deposited Papers from VINITI, which holds the largest roster of such essays. These deposited documents ( cited as " Dep. Ruk .... " or " Deposited Doc ... " ) are a USSR - publication typical of extensive work that are referenced in the so -called " Referatiwny schurnal " even though only briefly, or not being in magazines have appeared. The full text is left at the respective Information Institute and only available on request. The papers journals are available online or on CD -Rom. The TIB is home to about 90,000 of these essays.

Publisher

The Institute publishes papers sheets, databases, and various magazines. The sources for these works WINITI literature serves from 70 countries in 40 languages. WINITI operates since 1981 a database of over 21 million (2005) documents. The database includes 28 topics (240 subtopics ) and is extended on a monthly basis, it is one of the largest scientific and technical databases in Russia. Contents of the database, probably to 30 percent from Russian sources are books, periodicals, own publications, scientific publications and gray literature. Each document contains a presentation in Russian. The abstracts of the documents are free.
