Reflectometer

A reflectometer is an instrument for non-destructive measurement of reflection and run- length measurement.

Reflectometer found in various areas of science and industry application:

  • For the gloss assessment of plane paint and plastic surfaces (see gloss meter )
  • In geology, for the determination of soil moisture
  • In the industry for determining the moisture of products ( coffee)
  • In agriculture, for determining the water content of the crop ( grain moisture )
  • Time domain reflectometry: A method for detecting cable lengths, bruises, broken wires, short circuits or other faults in cables.
  • Optical time domain reflectometry: further development of the TDR to higher wavelengths in the optical range, especially in use in the measurement of fiber optic networks in the networking and telecommunications.
  • Scanning reflectometer: Device for non-destructive measurement of response normalized ratios of plant biomass. The device measures the light absorption in this red and infrared range.
  • Neutron: Device for measuring polarization and distraction with the help of neutron radiation, neutron see. The energy of the neutron is so low that there is in the examination no changes in the material in this method. Often this particular hydrogen atoms are replaced by deuterium, to get through the modified deflection behavior statements about structure and composition in organic matter.
