Reform Party of the United States of America

The Reform Party of the United States of America ( also Reform Party USA or RPUSA ) is an American political party that was founded in 1995 by businessman and presidential candidate in 1992, Ross Perot.

Main goal of the party is to reform the U.S. political system fundamentally. It is committed to overcoming the two-party system because it considers the Democratic Party and the Republicans as corrupt and not interested in solving the country's problems. The Reform Party calls for, inter alia:

  • A balanced budget and a massive reduction of U.S. government debt,
  • A reform of campaign financing and a limitation of party donations
  • The tightening of existing immigration laws,
  • A protectionist trade policy and the U.S. withdrawal from free trade agreements such as NAFTA, CAFTA and the WTO,
  • A limitation of the term of office of U.S. Congressman,
  • The direct election of the U.S. president by the people without electoral system.

In the elections for the U.S. presidency in 1996 she presented as a candidate Ross Perot on (8.4 percent of the vote ) and in 2000 the former Republican Pat Buchanan ( 0.4 percent). In the 2004 campaign, not a separate presidential candidate of the party was nominated. Instead, she called for the election of independent candidates Ralph Nader Consumer Advocate ( 0.4 percent).
