Refuge d'Argentière

The Refuge d' Argentière (also Argentière hut ) is a mountain hut of the Club Alpin Français, in Haute -Savoie.

Location and Access

The Refuge d' Argentière is located in the eastern Mont- Blanc on the 2771 m at the Aiguille d' Argentière Südwestfuß. To the west of the hut runs the Glacier d' Argentière.

The cottage is accessed from Argentière. The access is usually done using the cableway Croix de Lognan ( middle station of the Aiguille de Grand Montet cable car ), from there on the lateral moraine of the Glacier d' Argentière and further across the glacier to the hut. Other possibilities are the boarding directly from Argentière, or boarding of the Aiguille des Grands Montets over the Glacier des Rognons, which is used especially in the winter.

Summit tours

The cabin serves as a base for numerous mountain diverse nature of things in the area.

Several trips to the Aiguille d' Argentière, such as the normal route via the Glacier du Milieu, the western flank, which leads to the northwest ridge, the Y- Couloir ( Südcouloir ) or Jardingrat ( South-west ) can be obtained from the Refuge d' Argentière. Furthermore reached the Tour Noir on the normal ( southeast side ), as well as the western flank of Mont Dolent.

On the opposite side of the Glacier d' Argentière are the north faces of the Aiguille de Triolet mountains - Les Courtes - Les Droites - Aiguille Verte, guide over numerous well-known extreme climbs, such as the Verte the Couturiercouloir and Cordiercouloir; the classic north wall and the Voie Jackson on the Droites; the Swiss driver on the Courtes or Gréloz -Roch on the Aiguille de Triolet.

In winter, the hut is the starting point for ski tours and as a possible base for the famous Haute Route ski tour traversal.
