Regalia of the Netherlands
The Dutch crown jewels are the insignia of the Dutch monarchy.
Compared to other European monarchies, the Dutch crown jewels are relatively new and were made in 1840 by order of King William II. An earlier collection consisting of silver in 1815 by King William I in order.
Description
The insignia of the Dutch monarchy consist of the following items:
- The Dutch crown
- The scepter
- The orb
Both the scepter and the orb was made by jeweler Meijer from The Hague.
- The sword
- The Gonfanon the Netherlands ( Rijksvaandel or Rijksbanier ), a banner of white moire silk, on a gilt spear is depicted with coat of arms of the Netherlands from 1815 ( the coat of arms has changed over the years, but the Gonfanon remained unchanged). The Gonfanon was Manufactured by Bartholomeüs John Hove
During the coronation ceremonies of all Dutch kings and queens of the royal insignia were placed on a table in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. Only the Gonfanon the Netherlands and the sword were carried during the procession of the Nieuwn Kerk to Paleis op de Dam in Amsterdam.
