Regola
Regola is the VII rione (district ) of Rome. It includes the left bank of the Tiber between Ponte Garibaldi and Mazzini Ponte.
History
The name derives from the Latin Regola Renula, indicating a fine sand with which this area was covered on the banks of the Tiber. The medieval name was Regio Arenule et Chacabariorum. The term Arenule also derives from Renula and can still be found in the largest street of the neighborhood, Via Arenula again. Chacabariorum reminiscent of the coppersmiths who were among other artisans located here.
