Reinaldo Gargano

Reinaldo Gargano Ostuni ( born July 26, 1934 in Paysandú, Uruguay, † February 5, 2013 ) was a Uruguayan politician and diplomat.

He held March 1, 2005 to March 3, 2008, the Office of the Uruguayan Foreign Minister and was chairman of the Partido Socialista del Uruguay ( German Socialist Party of Uruguay ) and since 1984 member of the Senate since 2001.

After the military coup in 1973 Gargano went into exile in Spain in 1974, but returned a few years later he returned to Uruguay and took over 16 years for the post of Secretary General of the PSU.

Shortly after Gargano had become foreign minister, the country resumed diplomatic relations with Cuba.

Gargano was with Judith Grauert ( † 26 October 2010), the founder of the Instituto Mujer y Sociedad and daughter Héctor Grauerts married. The couple had two children.
