Reindeer Lake

BW

The Reindeer Lake is 5658 km ² of the largest lakes in Canada. It extends 400 km southwest of Hudson Bay in the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the latter having the greater share. The lake is surrounded by many small lakes, of which he himself is very difficult to distinguish. From north to south it is about 230 km long and 60 km wide in the center.

The Rentiersee flows in the south via the Reindeer River in the Churchill River from which in turn eventually empties into Hudson Bay. The Rentiersee is since 1942, dammed at its output in the Reindeer River by a dam, the White Sand Dam and controlled his drain. The dam has the coordinates 56 ° 14 ' 4 " N, 103 ° 8' 51" W56.234318 - 103.147552. The lake is thus partly a reservoir. Its water content is given as 17,900 million m³. The Encyclopaedia Britannica gives the water surface with 6650 km ² to; it is the gross area with islands. 5658 km ² is the net area without islands.

Deep Bay

The nearly circular Deep Bay near the south end of the lake at 56 ° 24 ' 18 "N, 102 ° 59' 19" W56.405 - 102.98861111111 is an impact crater with a diameter of 13 km and an estimated age of about 99 million years ago.
