Reinhold F. Glei

Reinhold F. sliding ( born June 11, 1959 in Remscheid ) is a German classical philologist.

Life

After graduating from the Remscheid Leibniz High School 1977 slide began studying classical philology, medieval Latin philology, Byzantine Studies and Philosophy at the University of Cologne. While still a student he worked as a substitute teacher at the high school in CologneRodenkirchen (1979 /80) and led a Greek club at his former high school in Remscheid. In 1982, he passed the first state examination in the subjects of Greek and Latin and took a job as a research assistant at the Department of Classical Studies at the Ruhr University Bochum. In 1983 he was in Cologne with the dissertation The Batrachomyomachie. Synoptic Edition and comment doctorate. In 1984 he became Assistant Professor in Bochum.

After his habilitation in 1989 at the Ruhr- University Bochum, he was appointed in 1990 as Assistant Professor. In the winter semester 1990/1991 he was professor of Reinhard Haussler at the University of Dusseldorf. From the summer semester 1991 to winter semester 1991/1992 he worked for Carl Joachim Classen in Göttingen. He then took until the summer semester of 1993 the Chair of Classical Philology ( Reinhart Herzog) at the University of Bielefeld, before he was appointed June 18, 1993 as his successor. In 1996 he moved to a professorship of Latin philology (especially Latin literature of the classical era and late antiquity and humanism ) and executive director of the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Bochum. Calls to Heidelberg as successor of Michael Albrecht (1999) and Bonn (2004 ), he refused.

From 2001 to 2003 sliding dean of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Bochum, 2002-2003 and Chairman of the Deans Conference. From 2003 to 2007 he was chairman of the German Neo-Latin society.

Sliding is involved in the project Anti- Lucretius of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft. He is also editor of the Corpus Islamo- Christianum.
