Reinhold Häussermann

Reinhold Häussermann ( born February 10, 1884 in Stuttgart, † April 4, 1947 in Vienna ) was a German -Austrian stage and film actor.

Life

Reinhold Häussermann began his career in theater at the age of 18 years. In 1902 he was in Ulm for the first time on the stage, before a year later, in 1903, was offered a contract at a theater in the French Mulhouse. In the coming years Häussermann appeared in numerous German stages, including in Krefeld, Erfurt and Hanover. From 1912 to 1914 he was at the Berlin Lustspielhaus on stage. With the support of the Austrian actor Hugo Thimig Häussermann 1915 got a job at the Burgtheater in Vienna.

In addition to his work in the theater Häussermann was also of interest for directors of the new medium of film. In 1919 he was in the comedy His Highness the tramp on the side of the later Academy Award winner Joseph Schildkraut front of the camera. In 1924, he starred in The Slave Queen by Michael Curtiz. Until 1940 he worked in this way in 21, mostly Austrian productions, with; his last appearance in front of the camera was the postmaster at the side of Henry George.

1947, shortly before his death, at the age of 63 years, he was elevated to the rank of chamber actor.

His son was the actor Ernst Haeusserman, his daughter, the actress Susi Nicoletti.

In 1977 in Vienna Landstrasse (3rd district) of Haeussermannweg was named after him and his son Ernst Haeusserman.
