Reino Börjesson

Reino Börjesson ( born February 4, 1929) is a former Swedish football player. The midfielder, who participated for the Swedish national team at the 1958 World Cup as his time second division player and vice-world champion, is the son of Erik Börjessons, of the first international match of the Swedish national selection took part in 1908.

Career

Börjesson began playing football at Jonsered IF. He then went to IFK Göteborg. With good performances in the Allsvenskan, he played in the Swedish national team. In the 1-3 defeat against the Danish national team on 21 October 1951 he makes his debut in the National Jersey.

1953 moved to Börjesson Norrby IF in the second class Division 1 with the club from Borås in 1955, he managed the climb in the Allsvenskan. With good performances, he played again in the circle of national and remained even after the re- direct descent in the extended squad of the national selection. In October 1957, he came in a 5-2 victory over the Norwegian national team for his second international appearance. As a result, he was able to hold in the national team and was in the squad for the World Cup 1958.

At the World Cup tournament Börjesson first sat on the substitutes' bench. After the team had qualified prematurely after the first two group matches for the quarter-finals, he came in the final group game against Wales used. There he could take his opponent John Charles from the game itself and stand out offensively positive. Thus he fought his way to a permanent place for the following games. After the German team was defeated in the famous through hard use semi-final, with the team he reached the final against Brazil. In the final, he was standing next to Gunnar Gren, Orvar Bergmark and Agne Simonsson, acting as one of four second division players on the court. The 2 -3- 5 system, in which he held the post in the right side of midfield, the Northern Europeans of the Brazilian selection were inferior technically and tactically. By a 2:5 defeat Börjesson was vice-champion with his team.

At the first international game after the World Cup Börjesson scored in a 7-1 victory over the Finnish national team two goals. By year's end he remained in the national team before he ended his international career after ten international matches and two goals.

1960 took over as coach Börjesson when his term second division Trollhättans IF.
