Reissue

A re-release (german re-release or reissue ) is a re- publication of a phonogram.

Reasons for a re-release can an expanded version of the original - for example, with additional songs - or a change of record label to be, which re-released the older artist's albums. A re-release with new songs is often published relatively soon after the original edition to stimulate consumption again and to favor an eventual placement charts. Furthermore, often of inferior quality recordings are remastered and remixed.

Plate label like Rhino Records or Legacy Recordings have focused on the issue of re-releases.
