Rekkof Aircraft
Rekkof Aircraft NV is a Dutch company. It was founded by the owners of the Belgian airline VLM Airlines, Jaap Rosen Jacobsen with the aim of resuming the production of aircraft types Fokker 70 and Fokker 100.
History
In early 1998 launched Rekkof ( Fokker spelled backwards ) for the first time the plan, the production of the Fokker 70 and 100, possibly with new engines and other improvements to resume. The production of these types has been set with the insolvency of the Fokker - Flugzeugwerke in 1996. Several times, most recently in November 2005, it was announced that it was negotiating with Iran Air, among others, as well as with the Dutch airline KLM about purchasing some copies. Despite many announcements of this kind never purchase contract has been completed. In November 2005, conflicting reports on the future of Rekkof were known. On one hand, it was reported on November 3 that Rekkof gave up after 70 KLM have postponed the decision on the purchase of aircraft in the size class of Fokker at least two years. The financial resources are not sufficient to service customers without an additional two years to a possible ordering of the most promising customers. This contradicts a report in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf of 7 November 2005, announcing the Rekkof chief Jaap Rosen Jacobsen that you continue to follow the plans and the restart of the Fokker - production was imminent.
The current status of the project is unknown. After nearly two years without updates, the Rekkof 's own website was revised in late 2006 and only consisted of a short presentation of the project, without further information about the status or other news. The magazine Flight International reported in late September 2006 about the fact that there are plans that Fokker-70/100-Produktion resume together with Rekkof in India. The discussions and plans, however, were still at an early stage.
