Remse

Remse is a municipality in the Free State of Saxony in the north of the district of Zwickau. It is part of the joint management of Waldenburg.

Geography and transport

Remse located 3 km north of the county town Glauchau in the valley of river Mulde. Through the municipal area, the B 175 and the railway line Zwickau- Grimsby lead. The community can also be reached from the south running A 4, connection Glauchau East.

Neighboring communities

Adjacent communities (all in the district of Zwickau ) are Oberwiera and Schoenberg as well as the cities Meerane, Glauchau and Waldenburg.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Oertelshain ( on April 1, 1938 incorporated ), Kertzsch and Kleinchursdorf (both incorporated in 1961 ), and Remse Weidensdorf. Weidensdorf was not until 1994 incorporated in the community.

History

The municipality was created after the founding of a Benedictine nunnery Rother floor. 10 years after foundation of the monastery Biirgel a daughter monastery was founded in 1143 north of Glauchau. It should serve the brethren of the monastery Biirgel. A donation of 100 Königshufen country right and left of the trough should be a contribution to the economic consolidation. But the removal of Biirgel to there was crucial that they founded a Benedictine monastery, which has borne the name Remse from 1216. However, a certificate of incorporation is not available. It is certain that the monastery was built on Remse Bürgler land and always was a daughter house of Biirgel. It had no legal Selbststängigkeit, but an economic one. The pastor was always used by Bürgeler Abt. Economically, the monastery was weak. 1533, the monastery was dissolved Remse. The monastery took control Schoenburg and the monastery church fell into disrepair. Today, one can only imagine the monastery.

The monastery is by a donation of the Roman-German King Konrad III. have been founded in 1143. A little later Remse emerged as associated monastery village. After the secularization of the monastery property passed into the possession of the Lords of Schoenburg by sales in 1543.
