Rémy Vancottem

Rémy Victor Vancottem ( born May 19, 1952 in Tubize ) is a Belgian priest and bishop of Namur.

Life

The Archbishop of Mechelen -Brussels - Léon Joseph Cardinal Suenens ordained him priest on 27 June 1969.

John Paul II appointed him on 15 February 1982 as Auxiliary Bishop of Mechelen -Brussels and titular bishop of Unizibira. The Archbishop of Mechelen -Brussels Godfried Danneels donated to him on 21 March of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Jean -Baptiste Musty, Auxiliary Bishop of Namur, Paul Constant Schoenmaekers, Auxiliary Bishop of Mechelen -Brussels, Jean Huard, Bishop of Tournai, and Emiel - Jozef De Smedt, Bishop of Bruges. As a motto he chose Et votre joie sera parfaite.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 31 May 2010 to the Bishop of Namur.
