Renaud Denauw

Renaud Denauw, artist name Renaud ( born November 28, 1936 in Mouscron ) is a Belgian comic book artist.

Artistic Career

Renaud attended the Art College Saint- Luc, where he earned a diploma in the programs and advertising lithograph in Tournai. After working for about a year in advertising, he was involved in the adaptation of novels of the publisher Fleuve Noir Comics for the pocket books of the publishing AREDIT. In 1975 he was admitted as a draftsman with Dupuis and drew on texts by Jean -Marie Brouyère for the magazine Spirou the adventures of time travelers Aymone. For the same magazine in 1978 also created the series Myrtille, Vidpoche et Cabochar ( co-author: ‪ Mittéï ).

Since 1979, Renaud also worked in parallel for the comic magazine Tintin. It was here on texts by Jean -Luc Vernal, later Jean Dufaux, inspired by the television series Charlie 's Angels series Brelan de dames (English: Secret Group Drilling ). For the same magazine in 1983 was also the Gagserie Plato, Torloche et Coquinette.

In 1987, Renaud then together with lyricist Dufaux with Jessica Blandy the series before that would be his most successful. By 2006, created 24 albums here. Moreover followed from 2009 to 2011 a three-part sequel under the title La route Jessica. In this series about a detective novelist Renaud first used a realistic style. Renaud's previous series had all been created in a hunoristischen style.

Together with lyricist Dufaux Renaud is also trying to use shorter series like Les enfants de la Salamander ( 1988-1990, 1997; German: The children of the salamander ), Santiag ( 1991-1996 ) and Venus H. (2005 to 2008).

German publications

The first publisher to the Renaud made ​​known in German-speaking countries, was Ehapa. However, the publisher no serial brought to an end. From secret group Drilling appeared only two albums by Jessica Blandy even just one. In the series The children of the salamanders of the fourth and final part is missing. Since 2010, the publishing writers & readers published a small-sized complete edition of Jessica Blandy.
