Renault Samsung SM5

The Samsung SM5 is a car model of the South Korean automaker Renault Samsung Motors, which was officially initially only produced for the regional market. The first generation belongs to the upper middle class segment. It was built on the platform of the Nissan Maxima and it constitutes its sister model dar. 2004, a new generation model was launched, which is also based on the Nissan Maxima.

The current, third generation, which has been produced since 2010, uses the Nissan D platform, the same platform as the Nissan Maxima. On this platform, and the Renault Latitude is offered.

The first-generation SM5, there were ten different model versions, all of which were only available as notchback sedan to choose from. Was distributed the first generation only in the domestic market in South Korea with an independent Nissan - Samsung dealer network and also in some Nissan dealers.

A small number of 5 specimens was subjected to ECE homologation for the South Korean embassy in Germany and placed at the service of the Diplomatic Corps. All 5 cars were sold after half a year, however. Four of the vehicles were then exported via a German exporter to South Korea. Since then there has within the European Union only a unique yet remaining copy, which is privately owned.

Samsung SM5 (2004-2010)

In the last quarter of 2004, Samsung introduced the second-generation SM5 on the market. This generation also based, like its predecessor, on the Nissan Maxima, but the current version of Malay production. From this generation, the series was split into two separate models. Furthermore, under the name SM5 the simpler models equipped with four-cylinder engines are offered. The value-packed models with V6 engine will be marketed from that date as Samsung SM7. Because now Renault intensive efforts to the brand Samsung, some of the model versions have been offered since the second half of 2004 and on the markets of South American countries under a separate dealer network.

Since 2010, the third-generation SM5 on the market. Unlike its predecessor, also a six-cylinder engine is available, the motors of the Samsung SM7 are still powerful.
