René Thomas (racing driver)

René Thomas (* March 7, 1886; † 23 September 1975) was a French racing driver and aviator.

From about 1910 he flew for Société Antoinette as a test pilot and took part in various European competitions. In October 1910, he collided in Milan with the Farman III biplane Captain Bertram Dickson, which it never recovered.

As a leading racer of his country, he joined the erected in 1911 by Louis Delâge team with Paul Bablot, Albert Guyot and Victor Rigal. In 1914, he participated on a Delage at the Indianapolis 500 and won. He also participated in 1919, 1920 and 1921.

On July 6, 1924 he stated in Arpajon on a Delage on a land speed record of 230 km / hr.
