Renée Simonsen

Renée Toft Simonsen ( born May 12, 1965 in Aarhus, Denmark) is a supermodel of the 1980's and children's book author.

Life

Career as a model

Simonsen 1981 accompanied a friend to a beauty contest. There, the fashion editor Birte Simonsen on Strandgaard was attentive and asked the photographer Leif Nygaard to take photos of her. Simonsen participated in the Ekstra Bladet Contest, finishing in 2nd place. Eileen Ford of the New York modeling agency Ford Models discovered Simonsen and was thrilled by it. Since Simonsen was at that time only 16 years old, she initially continued their education. In July 1981, the first title picture with Simonsen appeared for the Danish magazine photo cinema.

Family

After the failed relationship with John Taylor in 1990, she learned to know the Danish fish exporter Kristian Sandvad. From the relationship a daughter (* 1993) and one son (* 1995). End of 1995, Simonsen separated from Sandvad and began a relationship with musician Thomas Helmig, whom she married in the summer of 2000. 1998 their son was born.
