Répit ( ancient Egyptian Rpwt, Rpyt ) is a lion-headed goddess of Egyptian mythology, which had its main cult in the Upper Egyptian Athribis.

Name

The name " répit " means " noble woman" and was initially an honorary title for the goddesses Hathor, Isis and Nephthys. For Hathor the name is attested since the Middle Kingdom. He was often used in the late period, especially their place of worship in Dendera was often referred to as the "House of répit ".

Isis and Nephthys were sometimes referred to as " the two great ladies " ( rpw.tj ) summarized. Répit was then already in the Middle Kingdom at a proper name for a lion goddess from the ninth nome of Upper Egypt, which, however, survived mainly only later. In vulgar parlance the name with articles on T- répit and the Greeks then Triphis was.
