Repower (Swiss company)

Repower AG ( until May 2010 Raetia Energie AG ) is an international energy company with operational headquarters in Poschiavo (Canton Graubünden, Switzerland ). You can look back on a hundred years of company history. Its key markets include Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Romania. Company History

For over 100 years Repower is one of Switzerland to the largest power company. Founded in 1904 under the name of power plants Brusio AG, the company took in the same year the construction of its first power plant in Campocologno in Poschiavo in attack, at that time the largest high-pressure water power plant in Europe. The proximity to the Italian border contributed to the international orientation of projects and corporate activities. In 2000, the power plants merged Brusio AG ( Poschiavo), the AG met Grisons power plants ( monastery ) and the Rhaetian plants generating electricity AG ( Thusis ) to the group Raetia Energie AG to the 2004 aurax ag ( Ilanz ). Production

Repower has its own power plants in Switzerland, Italy and Germany. Different technologies are used (water, thermal, wind). The self-production was in 2012 a total of about 1.9 terawatt hours. The company also holds interests in nuclear power plants in Switzerland and in France.

Thermal power plants

Repower holds 61 percent of the SET SpA (Milan), the gas -fired combined cycle power plant Teverola ( Caserta, Italy) operates. This 400 MW plant is the largest power plant in the group, began operation in late 2006 on.

Nuclear energy

Repower is involved in nuclear power plants in Switzerland and in France. The investments correspond to an installed capacity of nearly 50 MW.

Renewable Energy

Hydropower plants

In Graubünden ( Switzerland ), the group operates 17 own hydroelectric power plants. She also has at additional systems via shareholdings and stock options. The total installed capacity of hydropower is 477.2 MW.

Wind power plants

Current Projects

The Group has in production currently several major projects in execution or in the planning stage:

  • Pumpspeicherwerk Lagobianco (1000 MW ): Between the Lago Bianco and Lago di Poschiavo the construction of a pumped storage power plant is planned. Repower developed this major project together with environmental organizations. Currently the project goes through the approval process. The subsequent construction period is approximately six to seven years.
  • Coal power plant Saline Joniche (2 x 660 MW): In Saline Joniche (Calabria, Italy ) is planning to Repower subsidiary SEI SpA the construction of a coal-fired power plant on a disused industrial site. This project is implemented despite the opposition of the population of Calabria, what Repower was nominated for the Public Eye Award 2013.
  • Gas and steam power plant Leverkusen (approx. 430 MW ): On the CHEMPARK Leverkusen ( Germany ) will establish a gas and steam power plant. Commissioning is scheduled for 2014. Trade

Around two-thirds of energy turnover generates the group in power trading, in 2012, these were about 9 TWh.

Repower is on the major European energy exchanges over a trading floor with retail locations in Poschiavo ( Switzerland ), Milan (Italy ) and Prague ( Czech Republic) represented. The group sees itself as an asset-based trader and trades electricity, gas and CO2 emission allowances. Transmission
