Republic Airlines was an American airline based in Fort Snelling and base on the Minneapolis -Saint Paul International Airport.

History

Republic Airlines was established on 1 July 1979 through the merger of North Central Airlines and Southern Airways. On 1 October 1980, it was through the acquisition of Hughes Air West to the airline with the most airports served in the United States.

On 23 January 1986, the Society of Northwest Orient at the price of 884 million U.S. $ was purchased. The merger took place on 1 October of the same year and the merged airline took in the structures created before 1947 and in the meantime filed name Northwest Airlines. The formerly operated by Republic hubs in Minneapolis, Detroit and Memphis were now on the backbone of the domestic network of the Northwest, which also no longer exists after the merger with Delta Air Lines in 2010.

Destinations

Republic Airlines operated an extensive network of destinations within the USA. The network comprised times more airports in Germany than in any other U.S. company.

Trivia

  • Can be connected to the former hub of the Company in Minneapolis and Memphis is still old logos and relics of Republic Airlines find, although after the merger with Northwest held a rebranding. The formerly used in Detroit terminal has since been demolished.
